Student Support

Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that students’ time at NIU is personally and academically fulfilling. We are able to provide helpful support to exchange students in English. The International Center serves as the liaison with NIU's worldwide network of partner institutions. Staff also facilitate overseas exchange activities, assist international students and help coordinate activities that promote intercultural understanding between international students and the local community.     

For students wishing to study at NIU, the International Center staff can help you with your application, visa, accommodation in Japan and airport pick-up.  To help make your transition as smooth as possible, the staff conduct a comprehensive orientation designed specifically to meet the needs of students from abroad.  Other services include help with filling-out scholarship applications, adding and dropping classes, and adjusting your visa status to allow you to work part-time. Staff members are able to speak English.
