Kawatana - Lantern Festival

On Saturday we went to Kawatana for the Lantern Festival!
Shohei – a teachers assistant we met during one of Abe sensei’s classes was nice enough to take us with his car. We drove for around half an hour and got there just before sunset. There were few food stands (also very cool bamboo speakers), couple of Christmas decorations (IT’S NOVEMBER) and instrumental covers of Disney songs playing in the background.
But the main event was the thing that swooped me off my feet. A long track with amazing light installations – little candles creatively put inside differently shaped bamboo. The tour starts in the house with no roof, with a tree growing in the middle of it. Then there are amazing colours, shapes and composition. It was absolutely beautiful.
